About

Since 1950, The Arc of Alameda County has been helping people with developmental disabilities and their families cope with the many challenges they face.  We offer life-skills training for people who are  profoundly disabled; vocational training and job placement for those who are higher functioning; and we have a day care center which helps 2-3 year olds with or without special needs.

We are members of the Arc of California, The Arc of the United States and are CARF accredited.  We are primarily funded by the State of California but budget issues in recent years have meant cutbacks in personnel.

In addition to providing direct-care services, The Arc of Alameda County participates in public policy discussions and reacts to proposed legislation that impacts the people we serve and/or their families.

Our facilities are located in San Leandro, Hayward, Union City and Livermore.  We are a 501(c) (3) organization.
