Developed by India-based start-up tech firm Asaan, which means “easy” in Hindi, aims to build a social network focused around curated shopping, where a users can interact with another user and recommend or “honk” products and services – ranging from clothes, electronics, and travel – “for” which they receive cash back when other users purchase the same product. Shoppers can select from an extensive range of discounted goods and services from the top e-commerce websites in the United States such as Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Costco, Kohls and other e-commerce sites in the United States.

As e-commerce spreads to emerging markets, opportunities for social shopping experiences will become a unique opportunity for consumers to interact with one another, recommend their purchases and even share personal pictures and details. In India alone, the number of smart phone users is estimated to increase by 500 million by 2020.

Asaan aims to engage online shoppers into a more curated shopping experience. It enables consumers to simply and easily recommend products without the need of writing reviews and blogs. They simply “honk it” and share links and selfies with the product. Users become “influencers” when friends follow them, which means more cash back in an e-wallet if others follow-up and buy the same product or service.
