In the last few years, award-winning filmmaker, Stephen Auerbach has showcased his creative diversity with a number of surprising films that have touched the heart and raised consciousness.

Auerbach’s first feature documentary, Race Across America, aired on NBC-TV and received the highest ratings in the network’s history for a cycling event. The film went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Boulder International Film Festival.

The Circus Comes to Town, Auerbach’s film on the traveling era circus troupes that brought smiles and laughter in the midst of the great depression, had its’ world premiere in an unprecedented six week run (daily screenings) at the Cirque Du Soleil World Headquarters in Montreal, Canada.

Auerbach’s follow-up documentary, The Memory Box, shot entirely in Ethiopia, tells the story of the meeting between a medical team from the West and a group of courageous African social activists working to lift the country out of poverty and despair. The film so impressed Ethiopian Airlines that they donated the airfare to bring the entire medical team back for a second visit, which enabled 150 children to receive life-changing surgeries.

Bicycle Dreams, Stephen Auerbach’s current release, made its world premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival on April 25, 2009. It has won numerous awards at film festivals around the country and is now available on DVD on the film's official website, www.bicycledreamsmovie.com.

Prior to his entrance into the world of independent filmmaking, Auerbach had executive produced, produced, directed or written over 125 hours of programming for major network broadcast outlets, cable networks and syndication.

This includes over 35 hours for NBC (including: The World’s Most Amazing Videos, Whacked Out Sports, You Asked For It!, and Race Across America), 40 hours for DISCOVERY NETWORKS (including: How’d They Do That?, World’s Most…), and 15 hours for FOX-TV (including: In Search Of…, Road to Fame).

Auerbach has also produced quality entertainment for ABC-TV; UPN; THE LEARNING CHANNEL; VERSUS; SCI-FI CHANNEL, FINE LIVING; and the USA NETWORKS.

Auerbach also served as Executive Producer of the globally syndicated travel series The Best of California. Funded by the state of California and major corporate sponsors including British Petroleum, Marriott International, Amtrak, Disneyland Resorts and Arco, this award-wining program has been seen by millions across the globe.

His diverse production abilities range from the creative elements to the nuts and bolts. From fashioning budgets to writing scripts and from pitching in network offices to editing his own films, Auerbach is a creative dynamo that can meet any production challenge.

Auerbach began his career as a staff writer for comedian Richard Belzer. and is currently editing his latest feature documentary, IF I TELL YOU MY DREAM, a unique look at the World’s youngest democracy, Nepal, through the eyes of a group of young Canadian performers traveling the country on a social circus mission.
