We believe that Baltimore’s greatest strengths and its challenges present an opportunity to establish Baltimore as a globally recognized city for diverse and talented tech professionals.
The greater Baltimore metropolitan area is a known hub for technical talent. The city is also known for its diversity and often referred to as a “melting pot,” with a population that is well over 60% Black/African-American.
There are many great initiatives in Baltimore aimed at combating diversity shortfalls in technology. Though we do not want to reinvent the wheel, one missing piece has been the collective and consistent involvement of tech leaders. Baltimore Tracks is a coalition of tech leaders who believe that tech companies have a responsibility to leverage the many resources and best practices available to build a diverse workforce in the Baltimore community.
