BandEngine.co.uk is a website that acts as an A&R filtering system by asking music fans and lovers to review and rate new unsigned music in return for redeemable points. The top rated artists are then given a virtual award that they can use in any kind of promotional material and go on to have their music digitally enhanced and featured on a BandEngine digital compilation album. Further to standard compilation albums, BandEngine plan to release an annual BETRA (Band Engine Top Rated Artist) Award to the top ten rated artists of each year.
Featured artists and the music reviewers responsible for rating them onto an album all receive the right to form a unique mini-record label and distribution network and redistribute copies of the album for profit. Music reviewers are paid in music downloads, digitally enhanced by BandEngine, which they receive via email once they earn a certain number of points.
BandEngine.co.uk are set to host a wide range of A&R Rooms, where unsigned bands get listed, with different application criteria and objectives for each room. In addition, BandEngine offer a promotional package to their top rated artists, the rewards of which are determined by their partners and associates.
