About

Located in downtown Asheville, N.C., the Center for Massage & Natural Health (CFMNH) opened its doors to aspiring Massage and Bodyworkers nearly 20 years ago.  Since its humble beginning, CFMNH as seen over 1000 natural healers pass through its doors. Graduate career paths include day spas, resorts, affiliated medical clinics, and sole-proprietors who have established thriving and successful businesses. Recent graduates are working in Alabama, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Michigan, Maine, Montana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Costa Rica, and of course North Carolina!

Twenty years ago, Massage was much more focused on client relaxation and rejuvenation.  Today, about 48% of all massage is clinically related while 52% provides calming and relaxing touch.  As the industry has grown, the school has evolved its curriculum to enhance the student experience and scope of learning to match. The curriculum includes a rigorous six month, 600 hour immersion into the sciences, techniques, and best practices of massage.  In addition to State approval, the curriculum meets COMTA (Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation) program standards along with COMTA institutional standards. COMTA requirements are set to establish the highest level of education quality.

To complete the 600 hours, students spend 20 hours a week in the classroom and perform a 100-hour clinical rotation in a beautiful downtown facility.  Students have found the rigor pays off; on their MBLEX Licensing Exam, CFMNH graduates perform at a significantly higher level than both state and national averages.   Emphasis is placed on self-care strategies for each student to enable longer and sustaining careers.

CFMNH staff and faculty combine for over 300 years of professional experience. Students learn from Licensed Massage Therapists, Acupuncturists, Herbologists, Nutrition Experts, and Naturopaths. Throughout the program, they gain multiple perspectives from over a dozen practicing professionals. Additionally, the students receive consistent support from staff along with curriculum driven somatic experiences that further expand the full range of their learning, self-growth, and professionalism.  Students attend from all over the world, bringing their different needs, preferences, and life experiences to the program.  Beyond the classroom, the school offers Federal Student Financial Aid and about half of the students participate in the program.  The school strives to provide all students with a nurturing and supportive environment and experience.

Beyond the 600 hour certificate program, The Center also provides an in-depth schedule for continuing education (CE) courses.  These are valuable opportunities for practicing therapists to expand their menu of services, learn new techniques, and connect with peers. The school proudly offers all Alumni a lifelong discount to help them continue their education.  The school also provides the public with the opportunity to learn the basics of massage through massage discovery days.

The school hosts both student and professional clinic hours in downtown Asheville.  Clinic hours are typically 9AM - 5PM daily.  There is an active clientele for student clinic that operates two days a week an offers a 50 minute therapy session for $30.  Professional massage provides the students with a natural career progression and the Center employees the very best!  Signature massage sessions are 60 minutes for $60.
