About

ACHNE: The Association of Community Health Nursing Educators unites individuals dedicated to advancing excellence in community and public health nursing education, research, and practice. Established in 1978, ACHNE is guided by volunteer leaders and serves as a vital meeting ground for professionals in the field.

The association fosters networking through its quarterly newsletter and comprehensive membership directory, enabling members to connect, share insights, and build collaborations. ACHNE also prioritizes educational opportunities, providing valuable resources through publications and its annual Spring Institute. This institute serves as a key platform for learning, sharing best practices, and engaging in discussions on the latest trends and challenges in community and public health nursing.

ACHNE's Dream is to be the catalyst in Community/Public Health Nursing education, practice, and scholarship, driven by academic and community partnerships and evidence-based practice. The ultimate goal is to build healthier communities and populations, thereby advancing health equity for all.

The Vision of ACHNE is to be recognized as the premier association in community/public health nursing education, practice, and scholarship. It aims to be the driving force in building healthier communities, improving population health outcomes, and advancing health equity from local to global levels.

ACHNE's Mission is to promote evidence-based education, practice, and scholarship across diverse settings, communities, and populations. This mission is underpinned by the core principles of Collaboration, Advocacy, Leadership, and Mentorship (C.A.L.M.), all directed towards supporting and advancing health equity for all.

To achieve its mission, ACHNE has established specific C.A.L.M. Goals:

COLLABORATION: Foster strong partnerships between communities, agencies, populations, and academic/practice partners to develop and expand a competent community/public health nursing workforce.
ADVOCACY: Champion the role and value of community/public health nursing within all health systems, academia, regulatory and governmental agencies, and society at large.
LEADERSHIP: Strengthen leadership within community/public health settings to enhance external and internal visibility, ultimately driving necessary change in the equitable provision of healthcare to all communities.
MENTORSHIP: Promote mentorship to cultivate community/public health nursing educators as influential role models, exemplars of best practice, and effective change agents both within ACHNE and across community/public health nursing settings, thereby fostering the application of evidence-based practice to address current and future challenges.
In essence, ACHNE serves as a dynamic hub for professionals dedicated to community and public health nursing, providing the resources, connections, and leadership development necessary to improve population health and advance health equity.
