What began as a hobby for founder, Caitlin West, quickly became her passion and then her trade. Calmer Sutra Tea was founded in 2001 when Caitlin took her Calmer Sutra Fresh Chai Tea and began selling it to local cafes and restaurants in Melbourne, Australia. Before long, her chai was recognized as being the premium gourmet chai and was being requested by multitudes of tea savvy customers.

2008 has seen Calmer Sutra Tea cross the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean to now settle on the east coast of the U.S.A. Far from its Australian inception, it now continues its aim of satisfying the palates of health conscious tea drinkers in American cafes and coffeehouses.

Calmer Sutra Tea has gained its international reputation for its all-natural, made fresh to order Chai tea; a healthy 'calming' alternative to coffee. To make our chai tea, we hand grind 8 different Indian spices (including cinnamon quills, cardamom pods and star anise flowers), then blend with fresh ginger root, pure farm fresh honey and lush premium black tea leaves. Calmer Sutra Chai tea continues to be the only freshness dated 'wet paste' chai on the market and consequentially, the only chai tea that delivers on quality of taste, fullness of flavor and that distinctive Calmer Sutra 'zing'; a chai so fresh it's actually kept in the fridge.
