About |
Carter Empowers develops household-first solutions that create lasting community transformation. Founded by Bruce C. Carter, the organization addresses violence, illiteracy, non-active fathers, and low self-esteem among Black males ages 12-26 through evidence-based interventions.
CORE PHILOSOPHY: SOLUTIONS OUTLAST PROGRAMS
Carter Empowers rejects temporary programs in favor of sustainable solutions that strengthen households and build community infrastructure for long-term impact. Unlike traditional single-intervention approaches that end when funding expires, Carter Empowers' four-pillar strategy treats families as the unit of change—creating compounded effects that persist across generations.
FOUR-PILLAR APPROACH
The organization implements four co-equal pillars designed to work synergistically:
1. SOLID FOUNDATION CERTIFICATION (SFC)
Personal development before technical skills. This pillar builds self-worth, financial literacy, and emotional regulation—the foundational tools most people never learned but can still teach. Self-paced online courses provide accessible pathways for individuals and families to establish psychological and economic foundations.
2. STANDING ON BUSINESS (SoB)
Economic empowerment through entrepreneurship and job placement pathways. This pillar recognizes that violence prevention requires legitimate income alternatives. SoB provides business mentorship, financial literacy training, job placement networks, and entrepreneurship frameworks—creating a million paths to prosperity.
3. EATZ & LEARN (E&L)
Household nutrition and education integration through family meal routines. Research shows that when families eat together regularly, school attendance increases, literacy improves, and violence involvement decreases. E&L addresses food deserts while building consistent household rhythms that support child development.
4. BECOMING THE BEST DAD (BTBD)
Structured father engagement for residential and non-residential fathers. This pillar provides co-parenting frameworks, school engagement strategies, and relationship-building tools. BTBD recognizes that father presence—when structured and intentional—reduces violence risk, strengthens academic outcomes, and improves household stability.
