About

ChilCorp-Water is a climate-tech startup headquartered in Plantation, Florida, focused on solving global water scarcity through breakthrough desalination technology. Founded by inventor Kaustubh Chilwarwar, the company has been officially recognized as a Qualified Team in the $119 million XPRIZE Water Scarcity competition.

At the core of ChilCorp-Water’s work is its flagship innovation, Water Cubes—a solid-state, electricity-free desalination system that passively extracts freshwater from seawater using microstructured hydrophilic surfaces and ambient infrared radiation. Unlike traditional reverse osmosis, Water Cubes operate without membranes, pumps, or external energy, offering a silent, modular, and maintenance-light alternative.

The company’s journey began with independent patents and improvised lab experiments, and has since scaled to global recognition, with an independent valuation of $44.6 million (pre-revenue, pre-prototype) by Equidam, a leading valuation platform. Early components were fabricated at the Washington Nanofabrication Facility and the Idaho Microfabrication Laboratory, demonstrating the rigor and scientific foundation behind the innovation.

ChilCorp-Water is currently preparing for Qualified Teams Testing in the XPRIZE competition and planning initial field demonstrations in the United States and Europe, with the long-term goal of serving water-scarce regions across Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.

Supported by a multidisciplinary team and international collaborators, ChilCorp-Water is committed to building scalable, resilient infrastructure that makes clean water universally accessible. By combining innovation in material science, microfabrication, and sustainable design, the company is working to redefine how the world approaches desalination and water resilience.
