About

Professional American composer, World Maestro Colin O'Donohoe and his new Turkish bride Ceren O'Donohoe had just arrived in Marcola to live and work throughout the fall. They chose Marcola after a year fraught with tragedy and adventure. They had chosen this area for the natural beauty and peaceful environment.

Three weeks into their peaceful relocation they awoke to a surreal horror. At first they were stunned by the orange sky. Since they've been living in Mongolia, Brazil, and Turkey over the past year, they thought perhaps Oregon has red skies in the fall. Their landlord quickly told them it was not normal and that they should prepare to flee.

Quickly packing up their home studio into their van, the couple fled for the west coast. Ash continued snowing down on them all the way to Florence. They captured video of their escape and beautifully combined it with peaceful video they had taken before the horrendous fires.

The result is a unique glimpse into one personal account of the Oregon fires. The immensely vast size of the fire becomes impossible to comprehend without accounts like this reminding us how important each one of us is in our response to tragedy.
