CopperWatcher Releases Forth Generation Copper Theft Deterrent System

Dallas/Ft. Worth- CopperWatcher™ recently unveiled the forth-generation of a monitoring device designed to protect Service Disconnects from copper theft. The Texas firm announced design enhancements in the CW-3E model that offer protection and monitoring of all Service Disconnects, from 230 to 480 volt, single or three phase.

Near-record prices for copper continue to spur copper theft, especially from outdoor Service Disconnects  which are not typically protected by theft-alarm systems. CW-3E works together with existing security systems by monitoring the supply and applied voltage in the Service Disconnect and distinguishes between theft attempts and service provider power outage.

“Our CW-3E model offers even more protection and versatility than any of our previous devices,” said CEO Robert Frederick. “The CW-3E automatically adjusts to the incoming voltage and understands the difference between a theft attempt and a power failure. The patented CW-3E is the only UL listed monitoring device designed to monitor voltage in two locations providing total protection with no false alarms.”

In the event of tampering or theft attempt, the existing alarm system is activated. CopperWatcher model CW-3Ewill not false-alarm during a service provider power outage. In the event of a power outage it has an option that sends a supervisory signal to the existing burglar alarm panel. Depending on the security panel, owners can then receive an alert of the current power outage condition.
