About |
Cordero Wade is a U.S. Army veteran, educator, and coach whose career reflects a lifelong commitment to service, mentorship, and student development. After serving his country and overcoming the physical and personal challenges that came with his military service, Wade returned to his first passion — education. He entered the classroom and the gym with the same discipline, resilience, and sense of responsibility he carried in uniform, determined to invest in young people and prepare them for lives of achievement and character.
Currently, Wade serves as Dean of Students at McGavock High School in Nashville, Tennessee. In this leadership role, he works daily with students, staff, and families to create a supportive academic environment that emphasizes accountability, respect, and opportunity. He is known for his ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds, balancing firmness with compassion, and always keeping student success at the center of his work. As dean, Wade has been entrusted with sensitive disciplinary matters, student support planning, and leadership initiatives that impact the entire school community.
Alongside his administrative role, Wade is deeply committed to athletics as a tool for holistic growth. He currently serves as Head Coach for the girls cross country program and as an Assistant Coach for the girls basketball team at McGavock. His coaching philosophy emphasizes that athletics are an extension of the classroom: opportunities to build resilience, discipline, and teamwork. Under his leadership, athletes are pushed to strive for excellence both in competition and in academics, with the understanding that success in one area feeds into success in the other.
Wade’s approach to coaching reflects his broader life mission — helping young people discover their potential and equipping them with the tools to overcome adversity. He stresses the importance of perseverance, responsibility, and unity, lessons shaped by his own journey through the military and into education. Athletes and students alike describe him as a mentor who holds them accountable but also inspires them to believe in themselves.
Beyond his professional roles, Wade is a proud U.S. Army veteran who views his service as the foundation of his leadership. His time in the military taught him the value of structure, adaptability, and sacrifice — qualities he now channels into his educational and coaching practice. His identity as both a veteran and an educator allows him to bridge two worlds: the discipline of service and the compassion of mentorship.
Wade’s story is also one of resilience. In 2024, he and his family experienced the devastating loss of their home in a fire. The community rallied to support him, and he has used the experience as another example to his students of how to overcome hardship and keep moving forward. Through personal trials as well as professional responsibilities, he continues to model what it means to face challenges with courage and to turn setbacks into opportunities for growth.
Looking ahead, Wade remains focused on serving the McGavock community with integrity and consistency. Whether in his office as dean, on the track with his cross country runners, or on the court with his basketball players, he is committed to creating a culture of discipline, resilience, and opportunity. His vision is not only to build successful athletic programs, but to graduate students who are prepared to thrive academically, socially, and personally
