About

Located in Arlington, Virginia, the Metropolitan Culinary Arts Institute (MCAI) offers a pathway to culinary excellence through immersive training in essential skills like brigade operations, cooking fundamentals, multicultural and French cuisine, baking and pastry arts, business acumen, and culinary math.

Our small class sizes, hands-on approach, and modern techniques ensure every student fully engages with each dish, leaving no gaps in their learning. Graduates emerge prepared to step confidently into junior sous chef roles.

We offer certificate programs in Accelerated Culinary Arts  and Breads & Pastry Arts.

If you're looking for a non-certificate program, check out Cookology, our recreational culinary school in the same location. We have six week bootcamps in culinary arts and baking.

With our State Council of Higher Education (SCHEV) oversight and American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) approval, MCAI guarantees a high-quality, industry-aligned education taught by expert instructors, backed by a fair refund policy. We also offer the GI Bill benefit, including Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill). As well, programs may be approved for VR&E (Chapter 31) on a case-by-case basis with authorization from a VA Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

At MCAI, we prioritize career support, guiding students toward job opportunities and nurturing continuous professional growth. Our dedication goes beyond the classroom to help students develop realistic expectations and skills for success in the culinary world.
