The Cullman County Museum opened in 1973 during Cullman's Centennial and has been collecting and preserving items from the county's unique past ever since. Housed in a replica of Colonel John G. Cullman's home, the Cullman County Museum brings the past to life in its displays, paying tribute to the families that made the area their home. Each gallery showcases a different aspect of life in early Cullman, including the Archaeological Room, the Primitive Room, Main Street, and more.

New in 2012 is the Civil War Exhibit, an extensive exhibit showcasing different parts of the American Civil War and its relation to the area in which Cullman County occupies today. The centerpiece of this exhibit is a video and map that highlights Streight's Raid, an important event from the Civil War that passed through Cullman County.
