Dominican Women Development Center

The Dominican Women’s Development Center (DWDC) is a nonprofit organization based in Washington Heights, New York City, dedicated to empowering Dominican and immigrant women through education, advocacy, and community programs.

Founded in 1988, DWDC began when a group of Dominican women came together to address gender inequality and support immigrant women navigating life in New York City. Today, it has grown into one of the largest independent Dominican-founded organizations in the United States.

DWDC works to strengthen individuals and families by providing culturally responsive services that promote economic independence, leadership development, and access to opportunities. Through its programs, the organization helps women build the skills, confidence, and resources needed to transform their lives and contribute to stronger communities.

Guided by values of respect, diversity, inclusion, and resilience, DWDC partners with community organizations, institutions, and local leaders to support immigrant families and advance gender equity.
