About

Daliah Husu is a writer and a poet, whose work focuses on universal themes of love, self-acceptance, and spiritual and emotional fulfillment. Her lifelong struggle with gender identity, sexuality, social acceptance, and substance abuse has inspired her to share her remarkable story of survival.

Born into poverty in the slums of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Daliah had many challenges to overcome. At the age of eight, she moved to New Jersey to live with her estranged mother, her brother, and her stepfather, and a new world of possibilities opened up to her.

After transitioning from male-to-female in 2007, Daliah graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design from Miami International University of Art and Design. Since, she has dedicated herself to exploring various forms of artistic expression, ranging from costume design, acting, modeling, dancing, and a new-found passion for writing.

In 2011, she began writing poetry as an emotional outlet. Soon, the inspiration to write her memoirs seeded itself, and she began working on her first book: I Am Woman. She now lives in a small town in Georgia with her husband, Ruben, whom she married in September 2015.
