ESD is New York State’s primary agency for economic development.    We work with public and private partners to create an environment that spurs innovation and drives economic growth and development to help companies grow and compete in New York.   We seek ways to enhance the State’s competitive advantage as the world capital for industries ranging from manufacturing and media to technology and agriculture.

In 2008, ESD assistance resulted in over 25,641 new jobs and 15,169 retained jobs and leveraged over $3.2 billion in private investment.

ESD works closely with individual companies to:

ESD has co-headquarters in Buffalo, Albany and New York City, and is supported by a network of offices throughout the State and around the world.  There are ten regional offices across New York State and eleven international offices,across five continents.
