Something happens the instant we find words that perfectly match how we are feeling. Something clicks, and the body says: "Yes!". It's like finding a lost item after looking for it for weeks. Betsy Sansby, a marriage and family therapist living and working in Minnesota designed the app a few years back in order to benefit her clients who were looking for an easier and clearer way to make their feelings heard and understood. After her clients reported back with success, Betsy decided to make her homework tool public so that anyone in need, even if they weren't seeing a therapist, could learn how to interact with people the first time around. The beauty of the cards within the app is that not only do they share the expertise of a professional therapist, but they touch on some very tricky topics. There are ten cards, one for each emotion you could possibly want to convey: "Can I be Honest?", "Please, will you listen?", "Ouch!", "Sorry...", "Want me to appreciate you more?", "Can you help? I cannot do this alone.", "Talk to me already!", "Today, I am loving you because...", "I have a request.", and "Thanks!". Simply choose your card, and fill out a hand-tailored check list relating to the issues leading to healthier communication. Once you have filled out the checklist, you will receive an Ecard compiling your responses into a clear and concise description of what you have been trying to say. You can add any personal touches you may want, such as a photo, after this: just hit send!
