About

GREEN Solar Academy PTY Ltd., an independent training provider and spin-off of the maxx-solar academy, has offered photovoltaic training in South Africa since 2011. GREEN has 14 academies; 5 in South Africa and 9 internationally. In South Africa we are based in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Ballito. All 14 Academies have classrooms for theoretical training, showcase PV installations and fully equipped workshops with up to 3 training roofs for practical installation training.

To offer training across Africa, GREEN Solar Academy uses its unique cooperation model. Local partners operate academies while GREEN manages them centrally. GREEN develops the training program, trains and accredits trainers, and handles overall management and marketing. Local partners conduct courses on-site using GREEN-accredited trainers. This organisational structure enables GREEN to manage and implement multiple trainings simultaneously while maintaining consistent quality.

GREEN launched the first PV assessment Centre in 2017 in Gauteng and runs today 5 centres in Ballito, Cape Town, Johannesburg, PE and Pretoria. GREEN is a QCTO-accredited Skills Development Provider, and selected courses are endorsed by industry bodies, such as SAPVIA (South African Photovoltaic Industry Association) and ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa). In Botswana GREEN is accredited by HRDC (Human Resource Development Council of Botswana) and BQA (Botswana Qualifications Authority). All courses are accredited with the German Solar Energy Society (DGS).

Furthermore, we have implemented several training projects for TVET colleges, universities and municipalities as well as organisations like GIZ, ADRA, SAPVIA, BSW, Siemens Stiftung, DENA, Sibanye-Stillwater, Sasol and many more. Most recent projects relevant to this tender are the training of 85 SMMEs in 3 different provinces for Sibanye-Stillwater in cooperation with the TERM Group and the training of 80 Youth from Alexandra, Gauteng for the Youth Employment programme YES.

Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the growing field of solar energy and to promote a JUST energy transition.
