Geri Lane is the founder of Braindance Publications, Inc. and the author of the Unschooling for Grades K–5 book series. A retired public school teacher with over 25 years of classroom experience and a Master's in Curriculum & Instruction, Geri helps families reimagine education through real-world, NGSS-aligned learning.

Her books guide parents in turning everyday life into meaningful learning opportunities using science, math, engineering, art, and literacy. Each book is structured around the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and is designed to meet Common Core benchmarks in flexible, child-led ways.

Geri also hosts a podcast titled Out of the Box, Into the World, where she explores educational trends, portfolio building, science in daily life, and unschooling strategies for K–5 learners. Her work supports parents who are disillusioned with traditional school models and are seeking empowering, age-appropriate, joyful alternatives.

Geri’s mission is to provide support, structure, and inspiration for parents who want to honor their children’s curiosity—without relying on rigid online programs or overwhelming curricula. Through her books, podcast, and blog, she creates a welcoming space for families navigating homeschooling and unschooling paths.
