About |
Our Mission is to provide a safe haven where adults from all beliefs and traditions can come to be cared for in whatever part of their journey they find themselves in.
Our Vision is to locate, convene, train, and nourish the spirits of those who feel guided to tap into their higher self, inner wisdom, and life’s purpose.
Our Goals are to provide programs, healing sessions, training, retreats for well-being, and a broad range of materials to support each individual's needs.
For the past 39 years, our work has focused primarily on child empowerment. We have seen a tremendous need for services for adults and are shifting our focus to meet that demand.
HISTORY:
In 1985 three retired government special agents, all experts in their fields, decided to form the Good Knight Child Empowerment Network, Inc., a 501 (c)3 non-profit public safety organization that would help the American family deal with the growing threat of criminal predators who primarily focused on children.
Together they formulated a strategy that would allow the charity to reach all concerned citizens. Jagen called upon his experience investigating crimes against children to author A Good Knight’s Story, a fairytale that would open the lines of communication about a very sensitive subject between parent and child. McCarthy helped Jagen coordinate and produce a candid camera style film that would outline the ABC’s of Protection , exposing the ten basic psychological deceptions that criminal predators use to manipulate and maintain control over the intended victims.
The book and film were designed to be used as teaching tools. Admiral Zumalt strategized with members of the U.S. Congress on the best way to fund the free distribution of these materials to law enforcement, schools, churches and civic organizations. After the death of Zumwalt and McCarthy during the 1990’s, Jagen went on to lobby Congress and private industry to support the free giveaway of the materials to millions of families nationwide who feared the growing threat of abduction. In 2001 Jagen partnered with child safety expert, Sophia West, a longtime volunteer of the Network and founder of Mothers in Action (formerly Mothers Against Predators).
Together with their volunteer staff, they designed and constructed the Good Knight Magic Kingdom and Family Safety Museum on their 2.5 acre property in Beltsville, MD. There, Jagen’s original fairytale was brought to life along with other classics in literature. The museum hosted countless interactive magic shows, safety programs, festivals and field trips throughout the year for thousands of visitors to the greater Baltimore/Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
