What is the ABATS System and How does it Work?
ABATS is an acronym for Artificial Brain Analyst Team Selector. The ABATS handicapping software was developed 5 years ago by 3 PH D's, one statistical, one mathematical and one of computer science. It is a proprietary product. There have been rumors in Vegas that 3 young kids developed it, the truth be told it was developed by 3 childhood friends in their 40's. Its' initial development was for football. The system was back tested to 1995. Basketball and MLB were integrated into the program over the next year.
How does it Work?
The ABATS system was designed with a few things in mind. First and foremost, to find where the odds makers have made their mistakes.Take the Human element out of handicapping ie, prejudices, chasing, guessing etc.) all the things that contribute to the reasons why most gamblers lose. Secondly to be able to calculate 1,000's of statistics and trends in a short matter of time. Other factors are also entered but not discussed (It is these factors that we believe seperate our software from every other handicapping program). No matter how good a handicapper is, they physically cannot enter, compute and decipher all the statistics and trends needed to get an edge CONSISTENTLY over the odds makers. We can assure you the odds makers don't set the spreads manually. That's not to say there aren't any handicappers around that are good that do it manually, but they are few and far between in our opinion that win year after year. And finally, bankroll management is built-in with the ABATS software.
Every team is updated statistically along with injury reports daily. Money lines and spreads are entered in to the program for each game. Public money or line moves are not entered. We believe most big line movements not due to injuries are mostly due to coincidences and timing. And again this is where taking the human element out of handicapping in our opinion is so important. It eliminates guessing. Each game simulation is run approximately 10,000 times. Once the winning teams are selected they then go through a VAB process (Value Added Bet, this also serves as a bankroll management tool). This determines which teams have the highest chance of winning along with the greatest return for our investment(bet) it then assigns each winning team a rating ranging from .01 to 9.9, (9.9 being the best) That rating also determines the amount of units to bet on the game. So for an example is you see a rating of 5.3, ABATS is suggesting that 5 units be bet on that game (round up or down to the nearest whole unit) Very rarely do we get teams rated above 7. The higher the rating the stronger the strength of the bet is. For this reason we recommend a 10 unit wager on any game with a rating of 7.0 or greater.
For people that want to follow the system we recommend a few things. Make a unit bet worth anywhere from 1/2% - 2.5% of your bankroll. For people first starting out we recommend making a unit 1/4 to 1/2 of a percent of your bankroll. As your bankroll increases you can increase the % of your units. To best maximise the system bet all the recommended games and units assigned to each game, picking and choosing from the recommended games will not get you the maximum return. In the end guys we're all here for one thing, beat the books and casino's out of their money.
