About |
Founded by two engineering classmates at Stanford University in 1993, I.D. Systems has pioneered the use of RFID (radio frequency identification) technology for wireless vehicle tracking and fleet management.
The initial success of I.D. Systems’ emerging technology came in 1995, when the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) awarded the company a $6.6 million contract to develop and implement an innovative tracking system for monitoring the location and status of test letters and packages. By 1997, a demonstrated market need for fleet management and utilization led the company to develop a unique, patented technology that has application in a variety of corporate and government environments.
In 1999, I.D. Systems went public. Its shares trade under the symbol IDSY on the NASDAQ Global Select Market. To learn about I.D. Systems’ executive team, click here.
Today, I.D. Systems is a leading global provider of wireless solutions for securing, tracking and managing high-value enterprise assets, including industrial vehicles, such as forklifts and airport ground support equipment, and rental cars. The company’s patented PowerFleet™ and AvRamp™ systems utilize RFID technology to control, track, monitor and analyze fleets of such vehicles and the people who operate them. I.D. Systems’ patented vehicle management system (VMS)boosts fleet and operator productivity, establishes total visibility of vehicles, improves safety and security, and reduces maintenance and other operating costs – which all drive to a significant return on investment.
I.D. Systems’ customers include 3M, Alcoa, American Axle, Archer Daniels Midland, Canadian Tire, Chrysler, Delphi, FMC, Ford, John Deere, Kellogg’s, Nissan, Northrop Grumman, Nucor Steel, Raymond, Rite Aid, Target, Toyota, Walgreens, Weyerhaeuser, the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Postal Service, among others.
