Independent Long Island

Independent Long Island (ILI) is a new country project, and considers itself a junior or developing Fourth World nation. The project was officially started on August 20, 2007 with the writing of a formal press release, and has so far attracted significant media attention.

Initially the ILI project focused on the full secession (triple secession) scenario; now the project is polling readers for not one, but three distinct secession scenarios: full secession (triple secession: NYC-NYS-USA); ILI statehood (double secession: NYC-NYS); NYC-ILI statehood (single secession: NYS). On October 7, 2007, after re-baptizing the country of Myanmar with the name of Burma, the Governor pro tempore of Independent Long Island created a new .BU TLD, and declared war on Myanmar.
