J. Eric Jones, Esquire, is the founding member of The Jones Law Firm, P.A. Mr. Jones focuses his law practice in the areas of employment law, business law, business tort litigation, family law and contractual matters.  Mr. Jones and his team have successfully mediated, settled and litigated a wide variety of employment law and family law cases and complex business tort law cases at the agency, state, federal and appellate court levels.  

Mr. Jones has substantial professional experience in military, governmental, community service and legal environments. Prior to attending the University Of Alabama School of Law, Mr. Jones received numerous awards and medals for his distinguished service as a Captain in the active United States Army, and he served honorably as a Major, United States Army Reserves.  He received a B.A. in Political Science from Alcorn State University (1985), a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Alabama School of Law (1994), and he completed post-graduate coursework in Human Resource Management and Education at Boston University.

While attending the University of Alabama School of Law, Mr. Jones served as a two-term Class Senator, Student Bar Association, and he received the Law Dean's Award. Mr. Jones also received both the prestigious National Bar Association Fellowship and the Earl Warren Legal Fellowship.

After graduating from the University of Alabama School of Law in May 1994, Mr. Jones was employed as a Judicial Law Clerk for The Honorable Gail Tusan, Fulton County Superior Court, Atlanta, GA. After completing his tenure as a Judicial Law Clerk, to fulfill his legal fellowship commitments of community service, Mr. Jones served in contract and program management capacities with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and the City of Jacksonville, FL. Immediately prior to entering into private law practice, Mr. Jones was employed as a Hearing Referee/Administrative Hearing Officer with Florida’s Agency For Workforce Innovation where he reviewed evidence, conducted telephone and in-person hearings, made rulings on evidence, and rendered decisions in hundreds of unemployment compensation appeals hearings.  

Mr. Jones is a member of the American Bar Association, Labor and Employment Section; National Bar Association; the Florida Bar Association, Trial Section, Labor and Employment Section, Sports and Entertainment Law Sections; Jacksonville Bar Association; D.W. Perkins Bar Association; National Employment Lawyers Association [NELA]; NELA Florida Employment Lawyers Association Chapter; and the American Association of Justice.  Mr. Jones is admitted to practice law in all of Florida’s state courts, Florida Supreme Court, Eleventh Circuit, (Middle District), the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Court of Appeals for the United States Armed Forces.

Mr. Jones has been a featured guest speaker for local national television/radio talk shows, including C·SPAN.  In May 2007, The , P.A., was featured in Jacksonville’s Folio Weekly as one of “The Top of Jacksonville’s Finest 2007” boutique-styled law practices.
