CLUB
Jim Seidel enters his 4th season at Carolina Union Volleyball Club as a club coach for AAU/JVA/USAV. In the 2019/2020 season Jim will coach their 17 National team, or orange team. Previously he coached 13’s through 15’s teams in AAU and USAV. In 2018 while coaching 15 White, they came in 1st at the AAU Spring Fling, 2nd in Myrtle Beach at the Winter Bump and 2nd at the Rally Rumble, then finished 17th at the Queen City Classic, finished 9th at the Greensboro AAU Super Regional, 16th at the Charlotte JVA Challenge, 13th at the Charlotte AAU Grand Prix. Jim also coached a 15’s regional team that had the 4th highest ranking point increase in the Western Carolina Region, 11th overall and competed in the Carolina Regional Championship. That same team also won Silver at the I-85 League, took 3rd in Gold two times, and took 2nd in Gold, won Gold and captured 2nd in Copper. Jim has coached numerous teams that have competed and placed at the Big South Tournament and at AAU Nationals in Orlando, FL.
HIGH SCHOOL
Jim enters his 2nd year coaching at Gaston Day High School. He is their head coach for the Junior Varsity team, Assistant Coach for the Varsity team and Head Scout. As head coach for their JV team, Jim led the Spartans to an undefeated season in the MAC Conference in 2018 with a 9 & 5 record. As the assistant varsity coach, Jim helped lead Gaston Day to a 22 & 9 record and coached in the NCISAA State Championship in 2018 where they ended as runner up. In 2019, Jim once again led the Gaston Day JV as head coach and again for a 2nd straight year they went undefeated in the MAC conference, and had a 12 & 1 record in 2019 overall. In two years Jim amassed a win loss winning percentage of .777 as their head volleyball coach. As assistant varsity coach and now head scout for the varsity, Jim helped lead the Spartans to win the regular season MAC Conference title with a record of 31 & 5, and also winning the MAC Conference Tournament. The Spartans head into the NCISAA playoffs as the #1 seed. Gaston Day also competed in major volleyball tournaments in 2019 against 5A schools and took 3rd at the Cougar Classic in Greensboro, NC, 2nd in Gold at the Byrnes Invitational in SC, and winning Silver at the Hub City Classic in Spartanburg, SC. On October 26th, 2019 Jim helped lead the Spartans of Gaston Day to the 2019-2020 NCISAA State Championship title match. Gaston Day lost for the 2nd straight year in the championship match.
VOLLEYBALL RECRUITS AND PLAYER AWARDS
In coaching high school volleyball, Jim has been involved with 3 players committing to play in college at Catawba College, Emory University and Erskine College. He's coached teams in 2018 with four All Conference players and four all state players. In 2019 Jim coached 6 all MAC Conference players and four all state players, (NC).
Coached and trained Setter with 3,500 career Assists - Sidney Bing. Coached and trained outside hitter where she achieved a 2,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs, LauraLee Hurst.

BEACH
As a beach coach, Jim coached various beach teams in 2019 to Gold in the 18 Open at the USAV Junior Beach Tournament in Charlotte, NC, Silver in the 16’s Gulf Coast Regional Championships in Alabama and Bronze in the 16 Open at the Catawba College Beach Tournament.
PERSONAL
Previously Jim has been a successful head coach for various high school and middles schools across the Charlotte area. Jim excelled in football as quarterback in high school as a former college player. He continues to be a competitive beach volleyball player playing in and around the Charlotte, NC area. He’s married to his wife Deb for 20 years and have two daughters, both play volleyball. In 2019 his daughter Allie was ranked 3rd in the state of South Carolina as a beach volleyball player in the USAV seeding points. His youngest daughter is a freshman in high school in South Carolina and starting libero for her AAU club volleyball.
