Mr. Paul is a career security practitioner and administrator with more than thirty years of security management experience. Mr. Paul is a nationally-recognized security consultant and expert witness with corporate, industrial and governmental experience.  He has spent his entire career in the private security sector; but has also assisted government agencies at the state, county and local levels in developing security strategies and enhancing the security posture of public facilities. He served for nineteen years as the Security Consultant to a large Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Paul has served formally as Director of Security for multi-facility and multi-state organizations in the retail and healthcare industries.  He has served as Security Consultant to organizations representing manufacturing, printing, retail, gaming, financial services, food processing, education, healthcare, public utility, transportation (public and private), chemical, security service, and law enforcement and government;  and for organizations with sizes and scopes ranging from single facility to international operations.   He has developed protection strategies that include not only physical security measures, but also development of administrative and operational policies and procedures;  personnel selection, screening, hiring, training, and evaluation strategies; contingency planning; and executive protection.  

He has served as Case Consultant and court-recognized Expert Witness for both plaintiff and defense counsel in matters dealing with issues including premises liability and adequacy of security programs and operations of manufacturing facilities, restaurants and lounges, apartment buildings, gas stations, hotels, healthcare facilities, convenience stores, parking lots, public buildings, campgrounds, retail stores, special events, and office buildings. He has provided training and educational services for a variety of schools and organizations, regularly addressing such topics as liability avoidance; standard of care; physical security; and conducting risk assessments.

Jon earned the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation by examination in 1980; and has maintained that certification continuously by participation in professional development activities, as both participant and lecturer.

Mr. Paul has held key leadership roles in a variety of professional organizations in both the private and public sectors.  He has served on the international Board of Directors of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS);  and served two terms on the prestigious Professional Certification Board of ASIS, including three years as its President.  Mr. Paul also served as a liaison between the private security sector and the Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association.  These activities have resulted in Mr. Paul developing an extensive network of operational contacts at the local, national and international levels.
