About |
The National Police Accountability Project (NPAP) was founded in 1999 as an initiative of the National Lawyers Guild in response to the growing number of cases of police misconduct that were being overlooked. Our founders recognized that justice wasn't just about winning cases in court—it was about restoring dignity to those who had been wronged and creating systemic change to prevent future injustices. Over the years, NPAP has evolved into a national organization at the forefront of the fight against police brutality.
What sets NPAP apart is our commitment to meeting real people’s needs—right now. We understand that the individuals and families we serve are dealing with the immediate aftermath of trauma, and they need tangible support, not just promises of future change. Our work goes beyond courtrooms; every settlement and every case we handle is a step toward a more just society where police power is diminished, and accountability is guaranteed.
