Formed in 2012 by local farmers, breeders and seed savers, the Long Island Regional Seed Consortium is a collaborative effort dedicated to education, advocacy, and research to foster and nurture local seed systems.  They believe in the seed sovereignty and open source maintenance of seed that is available to everyone.  They advocate for the right of every person to save seed and improve on varieties as he/she sees fit.
