Founded by Bess Charles, LadyCakes has grown from humble beginnings as a home-based operation in 2006 into one of Southwest Florida’s most beloved bakeries. In 2014, LadyCakes opened its first storefront in Cape Coral, and what began as a dream quickly became a cornerstone of the community. Known for whimsical designs, gourmet flavors, and warm service, LadyCakes has earned local and national recognition for bringing joy to life’s sweetest celebrations.

At LadyCakes, every creation is custom, personal, and meaningful. Whether it’s a towering wedding cake, a playful birthday design, a seasonal box of treats, or a morning cinnamon roll paired with fresh coffee, every bite is made to celebrate the people and moments that matter most. Over the years, LadyCakes has partnered with top resorts, venues, and event professionals across Southwest Florida, including Pink Shell Beach Resort, Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa, Sundial Resort, South Seas Island Resort, The Treehouse, Plantation Golf & Country Club, and many more. These partnerships have allowed LadyCakes to become part of thousands of weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and milestone celebrations — weaving LadyCakes into the fabric of the region’s happiest memories.

But LadyCakes is about more than desserts. Bess Charles and her team have built a business rooted in creativity, compassion, and care for the community. The Adventures of LadyCakes Book Series

From cakes to children’s stories, the LadyCakes brand has grown into a world of imagination and heart. In 2019, Bess Charles expanded her creative vision with the release of her first children’s book, The Adventures of LadyCakes: Kindness is Sweet. This charming story introduced young readers to the magical world of Sprinkleville, where desserts come to life and kindness is the most important ingredient of all. Through colorful illustrations and heartfelt lessons, the book quickly became a local favorite, inspiring children and families to embrace kindness in their daily lives.

Building on that success, Bess has continued the series with her upcoming release, The Adventures of LadyCakes: The Courage of Cookie Dough, launching in Fall 2025. This second installment tells the story of a shy, uncertain blob of cookie dough who doesn’t quite fit in. With LadyCakes’ guidance, Cookie Dough learns that being different is not only okay, but it’s what makes him truly special. Along the way, he discovers bravery, self-acceptance, and the courage to shine in a world full of sprinkles, frosting, and fun.

The Adventures of LadyCakes series brings together Bess’s love for baking, storytelling, and community.
