Major Act Productions (MAP): A Homegrown Powerhouse for Independent Talent
In a music industry saturated with gatekeepers, pay-to-play politics, and cookie-cutter formulas, one company is rewriting the narrative—and it’s doing so from the heart of Atlanta. Major Act Productions (MAP), founded in 2019 by Sharon “Sha” Watkins, is a full-service entertainment and artist development company on a mission to empower independent musicians, storytellers, and creators by giving them the structure, tools, and exposure they deserve.
Built by artists for artists, MAP is more than just a brand name—it’s a movement. Under the umbrella of MAP Publishing Inc., the company offers a multi-layered ecosystem that blends artist business formation, music publishing and licensing, video production, coaching, performance training, ghostwriting, and branding. It’s the kind of creative infrastructure most indie artists dream about but rarely find—until now.
The Roots of a Vision
Founder and CEO Sha Watkins, a native of Austin, Texas, was immersed in music from a young age, performing in church choirs and studying voice and piano at Glorious Studios in Killeen. Her early experiences instilled both passion and discipline, eventually leading her to pursue a degree in Music Business and Production at Austin Community College.
It was during this journey that she met her future husband, rapper Dorsey Watkins II—known artistically as Brotherhood Haze. The pair bonded not only over their love for hip-hop, but over their shared disillusionment with the predatory practices plaguing indie showcases and performance circuits. Frustrated but motivated, they took matters into their own hands.
The Birth of MAP
In 2019, the couple co-founded Major Act Productions as an artist-first platform committed to cutting through industry red tape. Their goal was clear: help artists thrive, not just survive. And from day one, MAP set out to provide exactly what emerging talent needed: authenticity, opportunity, and protection.
MAP’s growth has been powered by Sha’s relentless drive and a belief in creative ownership. As she studies to become an entertainment lawyer, her commitment to advocating for artists—legally, structurally, and creatively—sets MAP apart in an industry where few production companies offer such all-encompassing support.
What MAP Offers
At its core, MAP is an independent creative house with a label mindset and a mentorship soul. Services span:
• Artist Business Formation – Helping talent become entrepreneurs, not just entertainers.
• Artist Development & Coaching – Personalized guidance on craft, performance, and brand.
• Publishing & Licensing – Through MAP Publishing Inc., artists gain access to sync placement opportunities.
• Music Video & Film Production – In-house videographers bring visual storytelling to life.
• Ghostwriting & Branding – A rare offering that helps artists shape both their sound and their story.
The Spotlight: Indie Nights
One of MAP’s most successful ventures is Indie Nights, a nationally recognized showcase series known for authenticity, grassroots energy, and spotlighting real talent. Hosting artists from Virginia, New York, Texas, Washington, and Georgia, Indie Nights has grown into a cultural connector—linking underground artists with media, fans, and music insiders.
Unlike many showcase events that exploit performers with false promises, Indie Nights delivers meaningful exposure and collaborative momentum. It’s earned MAP a growing reputation as a company that prioritizes people over hype.
Mentors, Collaborators & Community
Sha’s own climb in the industry has been supported by influential mentors including multi-platinum producer Corey “Mr. Hanky” Dennard, known for hits with artists like Soulja Boy and City Girls. Other advisors include industry figures Bone and Mr. Denny, helping shape MAP’s trajectory with both strategic vision and artistic credibility.
MAP isn’t just about talent—it’s about community. From hosting events to providing performance coaching and publishing assistance, MAP aims to build a pipeline where artists don’t just get seen but get elevated.
The MAP Legacy in Progress
As Sha builds MAP into a national brand, her sights are set on even greater impact. Her legal training, combined with real-world industry knowledge, positions her to become a unique force—one that bridges the gap between creative empowerment and legal advocacy.
The company’s motto, “Putting Artists on the MAP, One Production at a Time,” isn’t just a tagline—it’s a mission in action. In every beat produced, video directed, or stage hosted, MAP plants a flag for indie excellence.
Whether you’re an artist looking for a home, a brand seeking culture-driven content, or a fan craving raw, unfiltered talent—MAP is a name worth watching.
