About

METALAST® International, LLC is a Nevada limited liability company that was founded by David M. Semas (Semas) in 1994 and its Manager METALAST® International, Inc. (collectively the “Company”) constructed a 17,000 square foot technical center in Minden, Nevada (45 miles south of Reno) and assembled a team of software engineers, scientists and industry experts in 1995.  In 1996/1997 the Company assembled its technical team and began R&D testing of its proprietary METALAST® AA-200 anodizing additive.  During 1998/1999 MILLC offered its proprietary and originally patented METALAST® AA-200 technology to domestic metal finishers and commenced Beta or field testing of the high performance chemical.  Test results showed a dramatic increase in throughput and a superior and consistent surface finish over aluminum, titanium and magnesium substrates.

By 2002 the business was broadened with the introduction of a line of specialty chemicals for anodizing.  At the time the Company also offered engineering, design and training, education, R&D and technical support to both metal finishers and the manufacturers they support.  In 2004 the Company launched its award winning T-REX (“Touring Research and Educational Exhibit”) national mobile marketing campaign signifying entry into specialty chemicals for many other coating applications like anodizing, plating, pre-paint, Powder Coat, Galvanize and Chromate Conversion.

In 2006 the Company was licensed by the U. S. Navy to formulate, manufacture, sell and distribute Navy TCP (“Trivalent Chromium Process”), a patented environmentally friendly trivalent chromium replacement for the known carcinogen, hexavalent chromium made infamous in the film “Erin Brockovich.” The Company improved and enhanced Navy TCP into its own Qualified Product List certified and formulated brand, METALAST® TCP-HF.

From 1995 through April of 2013 Semas and his management team have had their METALAST® chemicals painstakingly tested, validated and thus branding its products and implementing its “Core Business Plan” for more than a decade.  The first step in this time-consuming and tedious process was to develop technologies and chemicals that could improve the productivity, performance, consistency and reliability of metal finishing in an environmentally friendly way.  Next was to introduce METALAST’s green products, services and technologies to metal finishers and then to the customers they serve, meaning global industrial companies that utilize metal finishing in the manufacturing of their piece parts and products.  With more than ten years of testing/validation and hundreds of approvals and specifications for the METALAST® TCP-HF family of chemicals and other green products the METALAST brand is positioned to gain market share.

The number of manufacturer specifications and approvals of the METALAST® branded products will continue to grow.  The METALAST TCP-HF line of products has been approved for use and/or specified by companies including Apple, BAE Systems, Boeing, Crane, Delphi, FLIR Systems, GE Healthcare, General Dynamics, Harris, Honeywell, Hughes Network Systems and Lockheed Martin.  Approvals and specifications have also been awarded from the Marine Corps Logistics Command, Naval Sea Systems Command, Northrop Grumman, Pratt & Whitney, Raytheon, Sikorsky and with a specification deviation from The Boeing Company Weber Aircraft to name just a few.  A number of approvals or specifications are company wide, some are only for specific products, others require the use of METALAST TCP-HF as the only “single source” hex alternative, while still others may also grant approval to the METALAST brand and other competing products.

The Company was one of the first to embrace a “green” approach to metal finishing through its processing methods and the METALAST AA-200 additive.  The “Better For Industry, Better For The World” tag line identifies the environmentally friendly approach that METALAST has used to effectively brand its name as the “Solutions Provider” to job shops in the metal finishing industry and to those manufacturers that apply corrosion control coatings or utilize metal finishing to improve the performance, durability and/or appearance of their products.

The costly, but effective $5 million award winning METALAST® T-REX was one of the most successful national mobile marketing campaigns ever introduced to the U.S. metal finishing industry.  The METALAST T-REX was an 81’ long tractor and semi-trailer, 36-seat classroom built to introduce METALAST products and services to engineering professionals across the United States.  At the completion of the T-REX Tour it was welcomed by 486 corporations and about 100 of the Fortune 500, holding 1,231 seminars and educating more than 10,000 engineering professionals around the United States.

Above all the METALAST® brand stands for quality, efficiency and reliability.
