Dr. Carter has completed the "Whiplash Injury Biomechanics & Brain Traumatology" at the Spine Research Institute of San Diego and receved "Advanced Certification of Competency."  This is the first and only multi-module program devoted to the subjects of whiplash and brain injury traumatology. Dr. Arthur C. Croft is one of the world's leading scientists in this field and an award-winning speaker. He's devoted the past 20 years to research and teaching after recognizing that nearly 3 million whiplash injuries occur every year in the U.S., and that almost half of these will experience long-term or permanent pain or disability. Motor vehicle crashes are also the largest cause of brain injury in the U.S. Combined, the two conditions burden society with over $200 billion in cost annually. The doleful clinical outcome is largely a reflection of the poorly understood nature of the condition and the common-but misguided-advice provided by most doctors and hospital staff. Since the 1980s, whiplash injuries have been on the rise worldwide, largely as a result of structural changes and increased fleet stiffness brought about by the New Car Assessment Program and stiffer seat back requirements. Manufacturers, meanwhile, have demonstrated a general lack of interest in prevention strategies when it comes to whiplash injury, with a few notable exceptions. Dr. Arthur C. Croft, the director and senior scientist at the Spine Research Institute of San Diego, has developed a science-based training program designed to provide treating physicians (DC, DO, and MD) with the critical tools they need to successfully manage victims of motor vehicle trauma in order to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. (More than 1900 scientific papers are referenced during the first two Modules alone.) Because a portion of these cases are litigated, it is also necessary to develop the requisite skills for forensic presentation so that physicians can present factual and objective information about these often very complex issues to other professionals and to lay persons in a cogent and understandable format. Following is a brief summary of the four Modules of the Whiplash Injury Biomechanics and Traumatology 2010 program.  Dr. Carter is only one of four chiropractors to receive this certification in Oklahoma and the only one in the Oklahoma City metroplex.

Dr. Carter has also completed the "Chiropractic Certification in Spinal Iinjury" certification program through the ICA.  Dr. Carter received extensive training in injury mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and documentation with regards to automobile accidents.  This highly acclaimed ten-module program is designed to increase expertise and improve clinical outcomes in spinal trauma cases through more thorough, confident case management and enhanced communication with patients and other professionals. Successful completion of the seminar modules and final examination leads to credentialing for the Chiropractic Certification in Spinal Trauma (C.C.S.T.) through the ICA Council on Applied Chiropractic Sciences.

Internationally recognized chiropractic spinal trauma expert Dr. Dan Murphy is the coordinator and primary lecturer of this comprehensive post-graduate curriculum that includes state-of-the-art information regarding trauma neurology, mechanisms of vehicular accident injury, clinical trauma case management concerns, and documentation issues and strategies.
