The Dave Mungenast Automotive Family began with a man who loved motorcycles and was able to start a small single Honda motorcycle dealership in South St. Louis in 1965. Today, the family includes Dave Mungenast: Lexus of St. Louis, St. Louis Acura, St. Louis Honda, Motorsports, Alton Toyota-Scion, Hyundai, Marina, and Mungenast Automotive Family Collision Assistance Centers. Dave Mungenast, Sr. built the Dave Mungenast Automotive Family on two rules: the Golden Rule: treat people the way you want to be treated. And then later added the Platinum Rule: treat customers the way in which they wanted to be treated. Dave, Sr. knew that taking care of the customer with excellent customer service would be the way to build a business and he proved that it works. This tradition is carried on today at all of the Dave Mungenast Automotive Family stores.

Dave, Sr. and his wife, Barbara both felt a deep sense of community and giving back to the communities that helped make them successful. Each year, a portion of the Dave Mungenast Automotive Family profits go to the Dave and Barbara Mungenast Foundation. Recipients of funds from this foundation include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Boys´ Club of St. Louis, the St. Louis Food Bank, St. Anthony´s Hospital, and the Polly Klaas Foundation for Children, an organization dedicated to the prevention of child abduction. Barbara Mungenast along with her three sons: David Jr., Ray, and Kurt continue this tradition.

Dave Mungenast, Sr. passed away on September 20, 2006. But he still lives in the hearts of his family members and associates that worked for him and that lived by the rules he set forth. The Dave Mungenast Automotive Family continues to grow under the tradition of excellence that Dave, Sr. pioneered.

The family and associates of Dave Mungenast are proud to have had him as our founder, mentor, employer, and friend and are all dedicated in honoring his legacy by continuing what he started and believed to be the way of the Dave Mungenast Automotive Family.
