Musings of the Lame was started in 2005 on Blogger primarily as a simple blog recording the feelings of Claudia Corrigan D’Arcy, a birthmother, as she struggled to understand how the act of relinquishing her first newborn son to adoption in 1987 continued to be a major force in her life. Built from the knowledge gained in the adoption community, it records the search for her son and the adoption reunion as it happened.
Since then, it has grown as an adoption forum encompassing the complexity of the adoption industry, the fight to free her sons adoption records and the need for Adoptee Rights, and a growing community of other birthmothers, adoptive parents and adopted persons who are able to see that so much what we want to believe about adoption is wrong. Supporting other adoption related blogs was always part of the message.
An Adoption Blog; Moving and Expanding for AdoptionLand
In 2013, the whole site was moved to WordPress so it could continue to grow to meet the needs of the adoption community. It is self hosted and is supported by the donations of the adoption community. At that point Musings of the Lame guest posts were begun so that other people had a platform to share their voices and stories. The belief behind that was that raising our voices together makes us all stronger.
An Adoption Event Calendar was also added to support the adoption community as other supportive partnerships were formed.
A Platform for Adoption Truths
As and Search Engine Optimization professional, founder and author Claudia Corrigan D’Arcy, realized that Musings of the Lame was more than just her personal soapbox to rail against the injustices in adoption and to support Adoption Truths and the realities of the Adoption Industry. With major search engine rankings in Google and the other search engines, it was clear that MOTL was a tool to use as a platform to expand the reach of adoption truth advocates. With this in mind, other authors and contributors are being added to the Musings of the Lame.

Education and Commenting on Musings of the Lame
Musings of the Lame will always be a place where the voices of Adoptees and Birthmothers will come first. While adoptive parents, adoption professionals and others wishing to learn more about adoption are always welcome to read, they are cautioned to spend some time and read around first before commenting. There are enough places online, forums, websites and other blogs that talk about the “beautiful loving glory of adoption” this is NOT one of them. If you are looking for rainbow unicorn farts and pretty pink bows, do not read here. If you are seeking adoption truths and validation of loss, then please stay.
If you do not see what you are looking for, please ask. If it’s not here, I usually know where it can be found in AdoptionLand or who to connect you with.
The comment moderation is very liberal, but those speaking in ignorance will be schooled, sometimes harshly. Spammy SEO comments will not ever be approved and often your clients will be alerted of how you are wasting their money and doing a lousy job. Links to adoption industry sites and pro-adoption places will NEVER be permitted.
Welcome and We Hope You Stay Awhile
