The National American Indian Housing Council (NAIHC) is the only national nonprofit organization representing housing interests of Native Americans who reside in Indian communities, Alaskan Native Villages and on Native Hawaiian Homelands. Founded in 1974, NAIHC is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of service. NAIHC is composed of 288 members representing 474 tribes and housing organizations. NAIHC also has associate (vendors/supplier) members and other organizations that support its mission statement: "NAIHC’s mission is to effectively and efficiently promote and support American Indians, Alaska Natives and native Hawaiians in their self-determined goal to provide culturally relevant and quality affordable housing for native people."
NAIHC carries out its work in legislative advocacy, hosting national conference events, carrying out training and technical assistance for its members, and providing research and information services on housing conditions in Indian country.
