Nature Photography with a Purpose

California Poppies Wildflowers

was founded to share the natural world with people. The images on this page and the following are of wildflowers, birds, wildlife , landscapes and travel from some of these areas: Bolsa Chica wetlands in Huntington Beach Newport Beach Back Bay San Juanquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine and, Surrounding areas for wildlife and wildflowers In capturing these beautiful images I realized that many of these area I love to photography were disappearing. There is only 5% of the wetlands left in Orange County area of California. This was once a great migratory stop for birds flying south in the winter and north in the summer. This disappearance of habitat for wildlife and wildlife, I decided to dedicate a section of this web site and create and information section: Articles - On organizations and what they are working on, habitat and wildlife Links - for these organizations, places to eat that support local environmental organizations, and where to hike and see the wildlife How to get involved - How you can volunteer or donate And of course photography to capture the beauty of our natural world. You can check those sections out frequently. The first interview will be held with the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center in Huntington Beach. This organization cares for sick and injured birds in the Orange COunty and surrounding areas. There will be a blog post or two as well as a white paper and a how to get involved. You can find their link on the links page. The interview will be held on April 29, 2008. Images Take a look around on the images page. There are images of wildflowers, birds, landscapes, travel and wildlife. Part of the proceeds will be donated to help wildlife and their habitat. The images come in different sized prints. They can be ordered framed or matted. We also offer cards printed on recycled paper. You can not write your loved ones and know you helped the environment. Nature Information Nature photography with a Purpose will be conducting interviews with local organizations helping to preserve wildlife and habitat for wildlife. The information will be about: What the organizations are doing to help local and migratory animals What types of research are being conducted on local wetlands and other sensitive areas What research is being conducted on local waters (ocean and inland ways) Global warming (I worked in an atmospheric chemistry lab for several years) What local organizations are doing in their communities How many can get involved on a local level to help our environment and wildlife Many more topics The areas that I will be concentrating on will be: Bolsa Chica wetlands and Huntington Beach Newport Beach Back Bay San Juaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine This is just the starting point. Hiking For those people who would like to explore the outside world and see where some of these images have come from I will have a listing of hiking places. I will try to list the sites, maps and wildlife information. It is a very exciting area although some of the birds are already migrating north for the summer. We still have many species that call this home. Fore all those hungry, tired hikers I will see if I can find some local diners that support the local wildlife and habitat and give a listing of them. Your Favorite Organization If there are any subjects you would like me to look into and write an article please let me know. I will do my best to look into it. It can be about a local project. Those are always a great way to get involved and know what other communities are doing.
