About |
The Oz Park Baseball Association (OPBA) is a family oriented, 501(c) 3 accredited, instructional baseball league for children between the ages of 4 and 14. The OPBA was founded in 2009 for the express purpose of bringing high quality, instruction based youth baseball to the communities surrounding Oz Park, in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.
The vision of the OPBA is to be the best-in-class provider of youth athletics to include:
• Developmental Programs for our Players teaching baseball fundamentals, proper conditioning, proper nutrition, sportsmanship, and ethics in competition.
• Developmental Programs for our volunteer Coaches and Parents teaching baseball fundamentals, positive coaching techniques, organizational and management skills, interpersonal/relationship management skills, and sportsmanship.
• Community involvement in our local neighborhoods by being a socially responsible citizen, providing funds and volunteer support for beautification projects, and providing opportunities to underprivileged children and families.
• Abiding by Rules of Play and a Code of Conduct that promote the mission and ideals of the OPBA.
We are a preferred partner with the Chicago Park District and a respected member of the community, having won the Sheffield Neighbors Association Star Award in 2011 for community involvement. For the 2013 season we will have about 1,100 children from over 800 neighborhood families participating in baseball, travel baseball, and girls’ softball.
