About

Personalized Nursing LIGHT House (PNLH) is a nonprofit behavioral healthcare organization based in Michigan, founded in 1990. PNLH provides integrated, person-centered services for individuals facing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and housing instability. Using its nationally recognized intervention framework—the LIGHT Model—PNLH supports healing through compassion, intention, and holistic care.

PNLH’s LIGHT Model, a five-part approach grounded in clinical nursing, guides every client interaction and has been recognized by SAMHSA as a Promising Practice. It emphasizes:

Love the client
Intend to help
Give care gently
Help the client improve well-being
Teach the process

PNLH offers a full continuum of care, including:

Medical Detox and Residential Treatment
Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP/IOPD)
Dual Diagnosis and Trauma-Informed Mental Health Care
Peer Recovery Coaching and Case Management
Recovery Housing and Family Support Services

The organization primarily serves adults from underserved, low-income, and marginalized communities—including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals—across seven Michigan counties. With locations in Brighton, Plymouth, Canton, and Madison Heights, PNLH collaborates with courts, hospitals, community agencies, and families to provide accessible, recovery-oriented support.

In addition to clinical services, PNLH advocates for housing equity, behavioral health policy reform, and culturally competent care. Each program is built on principles of dignity, safety, and long-term recovery.

Through innovation, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to well-being, PNLH continues to be a trusted resource for individuals and communities on their journey toward healing and recovery.
