Shobhit University, Meerut and Shobhit University, Gangoh, Saharanpur receives awards by Associated Chamber of Commerce (ASSOCHAM) in a glittering ceremony held in New Delhi recently. The awards were presented to Hon’ble Chancellor Sri Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra ji by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Shri Satyapal Singh ji in the august presence of the Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Harshvardhan Ji.
Shobhit University, Meerut, UP has bagged National Excellence award for promoting Industry- Academia interface while Shobhit University, Gangoh was awarded for being the best university serving for social cause. The University at Gangoh was recognised for fulfilling the dreams of young rural populace by empowering rural youth not only with higher education but also making them employable.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Satyapal Singh ji said that we have the highest number of educated youth in the world but there is a lack of quality, therefore the Government of India is considering a new education policy. In this policy, the emphasis will be on accessibility, strength, accountability, quality & research. He added that the government has set up “Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission” for Teacher Education to make teachers more efficient and this year 5 lakh engineering graduates will be given internships. Cabinet Minister Dr. Harshvardhan Ji said that the task of teaching is God's work and full thrust of the present government is on skill development in which 0. 5 million youths would be covered under the scheme.
After receiving the honor, Shri Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra ji in his address said that universities have a deep relationship with society . Apart from education, the institutions plays a pivotal role in the upliftment of the society and the knowledge acquired from educational institutions can be used for this purpose. Linking higher education to social reality is very important. Keeping that in mind, it is also necessary to review the ranking system of universities, as the same ranking system cannot be suitable for different types of educational institutions. He added that just like United
Nations in political arena, there should be an institution like United Nations in the field of education to create an innovative education system for the new century.
On this occasion, Shri Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra ji appreciated the contribution of teachers and staff members of the University. He said that the University has achieved many milestones in the last few years. This honor will further inspire the University to achieve educational and social heights in the future.
The main objective of this event was to deliberate on the contribution made by the universities to promote entrepreneurship and to honor the outstanding performing institutions. Shobhit University at Meerut and Shobhit University Gangoh are the excellent universities of North India as apart from delivery of education to the students, they always promote
entrepreneurship and skill development among the students. For this reason, the contribution of these two Universities is not only for the education of the students but also making them employable for the development of the country. In the past few years, these Universities have been honoured with many other awards for such contribution.
