About |
The Pelagie Foundation, founded in 2015 by Dr. Christ-Lee Lizaire-Ganthier—a U.S. Navy veteran and Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award recipient—is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable individuals and families through access to essential services, resources, and unwavering support. With a deep commitment to addressing systemic challenges like homelessness, poverty, and trauma, the Foundation has become a trusted community anchor in Conyers, Georgia, and beyond.
At the heart of its work is the Pelagie Resource Center, which provides wraparound services including emergency shelter, job readiness training, mental health counseling, hygiene items, internet access, and ID vouchers. Recognizing the urgent needs of veterans, survivors of domestic violence, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and low-income families, Pelagie expanded its programs to meet these growing demands with compassion and innovation.
Among its newest initiatives are Christ-Lee’s Hair Boutique, a nonprofit salon offering free and sliding-scale hair services and workforce training for women, cancer patients, and military spouses; and the Pelagie Care Clinic, a virtual health platform delivering telehealth and mental health services to those who need care but lack access.
The Foundation operates with a firm belief: no veteran should ever be homeless. Veterans have sacrificed their safety, time, and well-being to protect our country. Yet many face challenges such as PTSD, depression, substance abuse, economic instability, and a lack of affordable housing or social support. Pelagie aims to fill those gaps by offering stable housing and comprehensive care—helping veterans transition not just into shelter, but into sustainable, dignified lives.
Through strong community partnerships with nonprofits, government agencies, local businesses, and faith-based organizations, the Pelagie Foundation continues to grow and adapt. Every program is a step toward a stronger, more just society—one where dignity, opportunity, and healing are available to all.
