About |
PotatoOrg.com is a new website that offers a fresh approach to social networking with an emphasis on exchange of information, knowledge and ideas. In its first week online, Feb. 8-14, 2009, it drew over 1500 visits. P.O.T.A.T.O. (standing for People Organized Together and Teaching Others) is the creation of musician and entrepreneur Brian Montgomery who developed the concept and site over a period of 6 months.
Brian wanted to create an online community where members with similar interests could go to ask questions, seek information and share their knowledge with others all at the same time. Users can join groups such as "Gamers", "Mentors", "Writers", "Mechanics", "Job Seekers" and "Going Green". They can post questions, answers and advice on a large number of message boards such as "College", "Music Production", "Investing", and "Fighting Depression". Members also have the opportunity to post original videos and audio, expanding the possibilities for communicating with other people who share their interests.
Unlike larger and more popular sites such as Facebook and MySpace, P.O.T.A.T.O. seeks to focus on a question and answer format, appealing to people with a broad range of interests, and therefore finding its own niche in the vast and growing web of online social networking.
