About Pretty Brainy, Inc.: Incorporated in October 2008, Pretty Brainy designs apparel and accessories expressly for girls 7 to 14 years old, or tweens. Our mission is to elevate the perception and expectations of what girls are capable of in the world. Our medium: tween fashion.

Pretty Brainy began when founder and CEO Heidi Olinger wanted a gift appropriate for her niece, a 7-year-old with a keen interest in astronomy. Olinger pictured science and girlishness coming together on a T-shirt, the world’s favorite medium for self-expression. She sought age-appropriate clothes for tween girls: in other words, a gift that would match her niece’s preteen ambition, optimism and exuberance. This was a girl whose self-confidence, creativity and wonderment were in place, and Olinger wanted to help her stay that way.

In store after store Olinger found nothing and suddenly she knew she would create the ’tween girl gift idea she was picturing. That idea today is Pretty Brainy.
