HOW IT ALL STARTED Redline Bicycles was born in 1974, as the offshoot of Redline motorcycle frames. Redline’s founder was drawn to this fledgling sport for the same reason many other major brands began—he had a teenage son who wanted to give this new sport called “Bicycle Motocross” a try. It wasn’t long before Redline used its motorcycle technology in designing state-of-the-art products that wound up setting the standards for BMX these past four decades. Redline was the first company to manufacture tubular chromoly forks and cranks; both are products that have become today’s industry standard. SBS purchased REDLINE Bicycles in 1984, and has kept up the brands winning tradition on the BMX race circuit by sponsoring the REDLINE CUP series in the ABA, as well as sponsoring some of the sports' finest athletes ... such as Stu Thomsen, John Purse, and Bubba Harris (both No.1 Pro title holders and UCi World Champions).
