RYA Madras Cosmo Foundation, which provides subsidized and affordable medicare facilities to the marginalized and needy sections of the society, under its Project "Medibank" Care The Uncared.
The Foundation was inaugurated by Ex- President of India His Excellency Dr.Venkatraman on 6th March 1995 and the NGO operate and manage a full-fledged Medical Day Care Centre (Shantidevi Jawaharmal Chandan Day Care & Diagnostic Centre),Parasmal Srisrimal Dialysis Centre, Cost-to-cost Pharmacy & Dispensary that offer affordable medical assistance.
The Foundation caters to marginalized sections of the society by providing general prescription at Rs.30 /-. The pharmacy at the centre provides medicines free of cost for the first three days of the prescribed medication period of all patients. The foundation conducts regular Free Eye Camps every month with screening of eyes, providing free cataract operations and spectacles.
And in its decade long operations approximately 4,30,000 patients were benefited with around 32,750 dialysis patients, 8,100 cataract operations, 90,000 X-Rays & Scan with around 270 plus Free Camps were conducted.
RYA Madras Cosmo Foundation with UGTA Foundation has patronized blood bank in association with Medway Hospital to provide blood availability to every needy patient at affordable prices.
Recently on Sunday 12th June 2022, RYA Madras Cosmo Foundation has inaugurated the Cancer Detection Centre (Manoharraj Kamala Kankaria RYA Cosmo Cancer Detection Centre) at Ayanavaram along with with well equipped dental care and 9 bedded dialysis centre. The dialysis centre will provide services at a subsidised cost of Rs.500 /-. The centre will provide dental services and cancer detection services at affordable cost to the public.
We are the only NGO to have adopted the Geriatric Ward in the Government Hospital (Vide G.O.No.38570/H2/95-96 dated 04-03-1996). The Foundation has donated free medicines, surgical machinery & equipments to the Cancer Centre at Government Hospital time to time.
From time to time the Foundation has come forward to serve the society in time of crisis. From the Orissa Cyclone in 1998, Tsunami Camp in 2004, Chennai Floods in 2015, Two years of Pandemic (2020-21) the members of the organization have time and again organized camps and distributed relief materials to the affected people.
