Rail Walk Gallery is one of those pleasant surprises that are often found in old, restored warehouses in what formerly were industrial areas of cities. Located in Historic Downtown Salisbury, NC, just four blocks north of Salisbury’s Visitor Center, Rail Walk Gallery houses working-artist studios and a retail gallery. Looking Glass Artist Collective and Cascade Sculpture are located in the same building, on either side of Rail Walk Gallery, making the 400 block of N Lee Street in the Rail Walk Arts District a great place to spend a few enjoyable hours browsing through a large selection of beautiful and imaginative artwork. This is a great place for collectors to find reasonably priced art from emerging artists.
In addition to the large gallery space they all share that spans the front of Rail Walk Gallery, each of the artists has their own working studio space. All throughout the gallery and in the individual studio spaces, visitors will find original paintings in watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, and other mediums, as well as mixed media, sculpture, pottery, and jewelry, making Rail Walk Gallery a great place to purchase a wide variety of original art. Some of the artists also offer reasonably priced reproductions of their work, including greeting cards. In addition to her artwork, Sharon Forthofer also offers a giclée-reproduction service to artists and photographers.
Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday, 11 am - 4 pm., and by appointment.
