About

The Suffolk County Women’s Business Enterprise Coalition (SCWBEC) is the only organization of its kind on Long Island. SCWBEC was originally established in 1990 under the Suffolk County Office of Affirmative Action and Minority Affairs by a group of visionary business women. The goal was to break down the barriers to get women-owned businesses (WBE) on the bid lists for government agencies, and to make women owned businesses known to the government and private sector.

Today with nearly 800 members, we provide women with tools to compete effectively for contracts with Suffolk County government and local municipal corporations (towns, villages, hospitals and educational institutions) and to engage in other profitable business activities.

Under the auspices of the Suffolk County Executive, Office of Human Services, SCWBEC serves all women business owners who either reside or maintain their business within Suffolk County. The Research Education Fund of SCWBEC is the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that aids SCWBEC in meeting its objectives.
