Hey, I’m Jamie Wolf, owner and founder of Second Wind. We are a specialty gym providing personal fitness and nutrition training for healing and strength, whether that is at our facility in Beaufort, SC, or in your workplace with our Corporate Fitness program.

My mom was a nurse – robust, energetic, and with a zest for life, traveling, her church, and her grandkids. And then she got cancer.

My dad was a very different personality. Getting Parkinson’s and heart disease plus outliving my mom really diminished his quality of life – and that of his caregivers.

I watched my parents suffer at the hands of the health “care” system and decided then to be as proactive as possible for my own health – for my sake as well as for the sake of anyone who might have to take care of me at some point.

I’m also mom to 3 kids, one of whom has an incurable chronic illness. She also happens to be a high achiever saying “yes” to big goals, which means she has had to learn how to give her body extra support to do what so many of us take for granted.

These life experiences shaped me into someone passionate about FEELING great! Feeling healthy, energetic, joyful, and alive! And wanting everyone around me to feel the same!

What if your knees didn’t hurt? What if your back or shoulder of hips didn’t hurt? What if you slept deeply at night? What if you were able to climb stairs without getting winded? What if your golf game were like it used to be or better? What if you looked in the mirror and loved what you saw?

There’s another side to health besides physical, though, and it’s equally important.

If you have a chronic illness, if you have an incurable disease, if you don’t have those things but just don’t feel your best over a long period of time, it leads to anxiety or depression, overwhelm, isolation, maybe even guilt. So you sit home, alone, not moving much, maybe eating too much, and your health actually declines, mentally and physically.

Second Wind was born to give you your Second Wind through exercise in a safe, friendly environment adapted to your starting point, through nutrition information to combat inflammation and pain and excess weight, and through community, because we need each other and so that we are in a welcoming environment of people who know what we’re going through.

▪ We are the place for you if you are a cubicle junkie who works in a high stress environment, sitting for too much of your day over too many years.
▪ We are the place for you if you’ve got kids in middle school running you ragged and your schedule has you eating the wrong foods on the go – and while in your head you’re the king or queen of the high energy, intense, competitive fitness scene, in the light of day you can’t bring yourself to walk into a regular gym so you don’t go at all.
▪ We are the place for you if you’ve been in a car accident, rehab and PT are done, and you still need a place to keep working out in a setting that can adapt to you and build you back up.
▪ We are the place for you if you are overweight and are ready to feel better.
▪ We are the place for your teenager if they require some extra attention to release pounds and build lean muscle to be more competitive in their sport or more confident at school.
▪ And we are the place for you if you have been diagnosed with any sort of illness. All the research says exercise is absolutely the thing you require to slow progression or keep your energy levels up and your ability to function independently as strong as possible.

At Second Wind we are all about your quality of life and all about your dignity. We have created a community that knows your struggles intimately, that will never treat you like a number. Our staff ranges in age from their 20’s to me at almost 60, so we can relate no matter where you’re coming from! And we have some of the most fun stuff in town. We have: heavy bags, speed bags, TRX bands and RIP trainer, our full-spectrum infrared saunas, BEMER (if you don’t know what some of these are then come see for yourself),Giger MD bike, GlideTrak, medicine balls, free weights, exercise bands, and tons of other unique equipment that our trainers can use to give you a fun, effective and memorable experience. We offer personal training, small group training, and regular classes that can accommodate your schedule, enable you to jump start you towards your fitness goals, and have you feeling joyful, confident, and energetic again.

I started Second Wind because I am passionate about health. I want you to know you deserve to feel better; you deserve to feel welcomed and part of a community; you deserve to understand how critically important nutrition is to your overall long-term health; and you deserve to get your Second Wind so you can relax, move, function, and feel better!
