About |
Seeds of Strength is a women’s giving circle based in Georgetown, Texas. Founded in 2009, the organization is built on a simple but powerful belief: when women come together and pool their resources, the impact multiplies. By uniting as a collective, members are able to award significant grants to local nonprofits, ensuring programs that strengthen families, enhance education, improve health and well-being, and enrich arts and culture can thrive in the community.
Since its inception, Seeds of Strength has awarded more than $2.3 million in grants to 44 nonprofits, directly impacting more than 81,000 lives in Greater Georgetown. Each year, members commit their time, talent, and resources to create lasting change where it matters most, right here at home.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower change through collective giving. Philanthropy is not about the size of one donation but the power of many. By pooling contributions from members, we provide grants at a level that makes a meaningful difference for local nonprofits.
We are dedicated to:
• Strengthening families by supporting programs that uplift children, caregivers, and households.
• Improving health and well-being by funding initiatives that enhance mental and physical health.
• Expanding education and financial security by backing programs that increase knowledge, develop skills, and improve financial stability.
• Enriching arts and culture by investing in creative programs that enhance quality of life, foster individual growth, and strengthen Georgetown’s cultural identity.
Our Impact
Seeds of Strength is proud to be part of a national movement of women’s giving circles, but our focus is entirely local. Every dollar invested by our members stays in the Greater Georgetown area.
Over the years, we have:
• Invested more than $2.3 million into the community.
• Awarded grants to 44 organizations, including Any Baby Can, Helping Hand Home, Hope Alliance, Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, Backpack Buddies, Assistance League of Georgetown, and Wonders & Worries.
• Positively touched the lives of more than 81,000 residents through programs that provide food security, counseling, educational resources, health services, and arts access.
• Committed $150,000 in 2025–2026, with individual grants ranging from $10,000 to $25,000.
The Founders Grant: Honoring Barbara Brightwell
Seeds of Strength’s growth is built on the vision of women like Barbara Brightwell, a founding member and local leader who was featured in coverage of Seeds in 2018 when we surpassed the $1 million mark. Barbara passed away in 2023, but her legacy continues to inspire us.
In her honor, Seeds of Strength established the Founders Grant, a $5,000 annual award that recognizes and supports community programs in the spirit of Barbara’s leadership and generosity. The first Founders Grant was awarded in December 2025, and it will continue each year to ensure her impact lives on.
Grantees are honored at the annual Seeds of Strength Grant Awards Event, a celebration of giving and community impact.
Community Connections
Seeds of Strength is more than a funding source. It is a community of women committed to philanthropy, leadership and service. Members contribute financially and also engage with grantees, attend educational events, and participate in programs that highlight local needs and opportunities.
Our annual fall luncheon is a cornerstone event that brings together members, nonprofits, and community leaders. In October 2025, the theme is Celebrating Women, Stories, and the Power to Make a Difference. Keynote speaker is Conni Reed, Founder and CEO of Consuela, a nationally recognized Central Texas entrepreneur and designer.
Why Seeds of Strength Matters
Philanthropy at the local level is critical. While large national organizations often capture headlines, it is local nonprofits that are on the frontlines of meeting community needs. Seeds of Strength provides these nonprofits with not just funding, but also visibility, partnership, and encouragement.
Our work ensures that nonprofits in Georgetown have access to sustainable funding for programs that:
• Provide meals and school supplies for children.
• Offer counseling and advocacy for families in crisis.
• Deliver health services and wellness programs.
• Enrich the community through arts, culture, and creative initiatives.
Looking Ahead
With more than a decade Seeds of Strength continues to look forward. Our goal is not only to award grants but also to foster a culture of generosity, collaboration, and community pride in Georgetown. By investing in nonprofits today, we are helping to fund Georgetown’s future.
